Drug Uses
Аllopurinol is used to treat many symptoms of gout including tophi (collection of uric аcid crystals in the tissues, especially around joints), joint destruction, and uric аcid stones. It is also used to control the level of uric аcid in the blood of cancer patients.
Usage
You must take Аllopurinol exactly as prescribed to you. Most doctors start with a low dosage and gradually increase it with time. It is recommended that you drink plenty of fluids while undergoing treatment with Аllopurinol. Avoid taking Vitаmin C to prevent formation of kidney stones.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose of Аllopurinol then take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the one you missed and go back to your regular schedule. But do not take 2 doses at once.
Storage
Store Аllopurinol in a cool dark place away from light.

Lab tests, including uric аcid levels and kidney and liver function, may be performed while you use Аllopurinol . These tests may be used to monitor your condition or check for side effects. Be sure to keep all doctor and lab appointments.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding: If you become pregnant, contact your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using Аllopurinol while you are pregnant. Аllopurinol is found in breast milk. If you are or will be breast-feeding while you use Аllopurinol, check with your doctor. Discuss any possible risks to your baby.
